Temperament
Kribs are generally peaceful community fish, but they are highly territorial during breeding. They will fiercely guard their chosen cave and fry from anyone who wanders too close. Avoid housing them with other bottom-dwellers (like small catfish or loaches) in smaller aquariums. Excellent tank mates include fast-swimming schooling fish like tetras, danios, and larger barbs that stay in the upper half of the water column.
Minimum tank
Tank Size: A minimum of 100 litres (approx. 20–30 gallons) is highly recommended for a single breeding pair. A larger community tank (40+ gallons) is ideal if you plan to keep them with other fish.
Temperature
Water Conditions: They are incredibly hardy and adaptable to varying parameters. Aim for a temperature between 24°C and 27°C,
pH
a pH of 6.5–7.5, and soft-to-medium water hardness.

Keeping them well

Stable water matters more than perfect water. A well cycled tank and regular changes count for far more than chasing numbers on a test kit. Give them somewhere to get out of the light, feed a decent varied diet, and they will do the rest themselves.

If you are not sure whether something will suit your tank, email us before you order. We would far rather talk you out of a fish than sell you one that is going to struggle.
