Terms of sale
Plain English, because terms nobody reads protect nobody. Last updated August 2026.
Who you are buying from
Aquatic Angels & More, a livestock fish breeder based in Waitara, Taranaki, shipping New Zealand wide. Everything on this site is bred and grown on in our own fishroom. Contact us at contact@aquatic-angels.co.nz. Email is the only channel we run, and it is the one we answer.
Prices
All prices shown are in New Zealand dollars and include GST. Fish are priced by size. Where a listing shows more than one size, the price shown on the shop page is the smallest size, and the price updates when you pick a different one.
We can change prices at any time, but never on an order you have already placed and paid for. If a price is obviously wrong through a mistake on our end, we will contact you before we take payment or dispatch, and you can confirm or cancel.
Ordering
Placing an order is an offer to buy. Your order is accepted when we email you to confirm it, not when payment goes through. That order of events matters with livestock, because stock counts move and a fish can sell twice in the time between two people reaching checkout.
Stock counts on this site are real numbers, not a yes or no. If something sells out between your order and dispatch, we will contact you and offer a refund for that fish, a substitute you are happy with, or a hold until the next batch. Your choice, and we will not just pick one for you.
Dispatch
Livestock leaves on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays and never later in the week, so that nothing of ours sits in a depot over a weekend. An order placed after the last dispatch day goes out on the next one.
We can hold an order back at your request, and sometimes we will hold one ourselves if the weather at either end is bad enough that we do not think the fish should travel. We will always tell you if we do that.
Freight
Freight is charged once per order, not per fish. It is $30 to the North Island and $80 to the South, by overnight tracked courier, and that price includes the packaging. Spend $150 or more and freight is free to the North Island and $40 to the South.
Rural delivery adds $6 because the couriers charge us a rural surcharge. You are responsible for telling us if your address is rural. If we have to pay a surcharge that was not declared, we will invoice it to you before the next order rather than absorb it.
We ship within New Zealand only. Full detail, including the acclimatisation instructions, is on the shipping page, and those terms form part of this agreement.
Live arrival
We cover dead on arrival for one hour from the time the courier records delivery. To claim, send us photographs and video of the fish in the unopened bag, emailed to contact@aquatic-angels.co.nz inside that hour. We will refund that fish, or send the same fish again on the next dispatch day with no courier fee, whichever you prefer.
Rural is the exception
Couriers do not guarantee overnight delivery to rural addresses, and a fish in a bag for two days is a different proposition to one overnight. Live arrival cover does not apply to rural deliveries. We will pack a rural order as well as we possibly can, but the risk on that leg is yours. If you are not sure whether your address counts as rural, ask before you order.
Live arrival cover is about the journey, not the tank you put them in. Once a fish has been out of the bag and into your water, what happens next depends on your water, and we cannot stand behind it. That is not us being difficult, it is the honest limit of what anyone can verify.
Changing or cancelling an order
You can change or cancel any time before we pack it, which in practice means any time before the dispatch day. Email us and we will refund in full. Once fish are bagged we cannot put them back, so a cancellation after that point is not something we can do.
Because livestock is perishable and cannot be resold once it has travelled, we do not offer change of mind returns on fish. That does not affect your rights below.
Your rights under New Zealand law
Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986 where you are buying as a consumer. Those Acts require what we sell to be of acceptable quality and to match how we have described it, and no wording on this page overrides that.
If you are buying for a business and the goods are for business use, the parties agree the Consumer Guarantees Act does not apply, to the extent the Act allows that agreement.
The 25% off code
An order of $150 or more earns a 25% off code for your next order, emailed with your tracking. One code per order, one code per subsequent order, and it applies to the fish rather than to the freight. It is not transferable and it cannot be exchanged for cash.
Tank leases and maintenance
Leasing and tank maintenance are quoted per room and per tank, and are covered by a separate written agreement rather than by these terms. We lease into the lower North Island, because a lease means us turning up every month to service it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by New Zealand law, and the New Zealand courts have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
Anything here you want clarified before ordering, email contact@aquatic-angels.co.nz. We would much rather answer a question up front than argue about it after a box has landed.
