Other cichlids

Round bodied, bright orange, and one of the most interactive fish you can keep. They learn who feeds them and they will come to the front of the glass for it. A hybrid rather than a wild species, first bred in Taiwan in the 1980s, and the beak shaped mouth that comes with that cannot close all the way. It makes them far less able to do damage than most Central American cichlids, which is why they get on with more tank mates than you would expect.

A gold colour morph of the banded severum, bred in the hobby rather than taken out of a river. Deep golden yellow through the body with red speckling that comes up as they mature, and a much calmer fish than most cichlids that get to this size.

The albino form of the socolofi, sometimes sold as the albino pindani. Clean white right through with pale blue in the fins, which is an unusual thing to have in a rift lake tank and it stands out against dark rock.
